 “Art washes away the dust of everyday life.” In each of missEMILYKATE art workshops the students across Southern Nevada (Las Vegas, Henderson, Summerlin, and Boulder City) complete an elaborate project that you will proudly display in your home. In every art workshop the students will be exposed to a vast array of art materials and techniques that will help them grow as artists. All missEMILYKATE art workshops are based on college level art courses that are modified to each particular age group. Each student walks away with a new found knowledge of art history, art vocabulary words, and the ability to apply their knowledge of the creation of their own original masterpieces. We live in a spatial world, learning to communicate ideas by manipulating space and form through art is a wonderful way to expand minds,young and old. Times change, mediums develop, concepts shift, but the ability to transpose an idea into form is timeless. missEMILYKATE workshops will open your child’s mind to new ways of thinking. |

 As a strong advocate for the importance of art education in every child’s development, missEMILYKATE has designed an art curriculum that does not isolate the visual arts from a student’s everyday lessons but enhances their skills in other academic areas. In my visual arts integrated lessons, the students across Southern Nevada (Las Vegas, Henderson, Summerlin, and Boulder City) study the origins of the materials they are using, the history of the artist they are studying and the significance of the symbols, colors,materials, and even the gesture behind their brushstrokes or pencil marks before they create their artwork. With this foundation,the students have a greater ability to express themselves through art; this is where they learn by doing. Using hands-on constructivist teaching methods like those of the great John Dewey the students are able to apply what they have learned to tangible creations. |
 missEMILYKATE senior art workshops are not that different from children art classes. missEMILYKATE instructs senior citizens across Southern Nevada (Las Vegas, Henderson, Summerlin, and Boulder City). Just as many individuals underestimate the artistic abilities of youth, they also underestimate the tremendous potential that people of advanced age still possess. My senior art classes are designed to get seniors involved in new interests or re-spark old ones that add new meaning to their lives. Seniors have so many wonderful life experiences to draw from that can be used to inspire great art pieces. Art is a great distraction for seniors, a way for them to escape from their physical pain and can stimulate their cognitive faculties. The art projects all incorporate art history and often trigger memories and encourage the students to engage in meaningful decisions in their own work. When seniors get involved in art projects they gain a renewed sense of dignity and often their physical stature even changes. Seniors sometimes forget that they are valued members of a community; little things like taking part in a group art class can make all the difference in their life and even prolong it. Everyone is capable of creating art providing they have imagination and life experiences to inspire him or her. Creating art is more than mastering a craft or skill; all great art is based in emotions and memories. Seniors possess a multitude of both. missEMILYKATE senior art lessons are designed to work with seniors of all levels regardless of their state of mind or disabilities. I encourage seniors to express their feelings, their memories and illustrate their life experiences through art. |
 There is nothing like the look on a person’s face when they have created a truly original piece of art. I am a strong believer that you are never too young or too old to learn how to express yourself through art. That is why I start my art classes at 12 months, with missEMILYKATE Mommy/Daddy and Me series, and continue to seniors. missEMILYKATE students have created pieces at age three that their parent’s never imagined they were capable of and learned color theories, art terminology, and art history far beyond their years. Students in missEMILYKATE senior classes have discovered artistic abilities they never thought they possessed. missEMILYKATE superior art instruction gives students the confidence to succeed in all aspects of their academic and real life. |
